This week's Friday Five:
  1. When you're having trouble staying awake, what are some things you do to make sure you don’t drift off to sleep? Get massive amounts of coffee. And go out for fresh air (e.g. a cigarette).
  2. What's most likely to cause you a prolonged period of not enough sleep? Having morning shifts at work. I'm naturally nocturnal, so I tend to be most productive at night. No matter when I have to wake up, I go to bed around 4:00 in the morning. So, I sometimes only get three or four hours of sleep before having to wake up to go to work. I usually only get a full eight hours of sleep on my days off.
  3. When you're going through a prolonged period of not enough sleep, what parts of your daily routine are likely to change, and how? I'm pretty good about keeping my routine, regardless of how much sleep I've had. I may get an extra cup or two of coffee, but that's about it. I still go out after work, even if I've had a lack of sleep.
  4. Who in your life seems regularly to have not enough sleep? Me!
  5. In what ways does your personality change when you go through a prolonged period of not enough sleep? I guess it depends on how long a "prolonged period" is. I'm grumpy (read: super bitch) until I have that first cup of coffee and cigarette of the day. Then I'm usually good to go. If I go for a week without getting enough sleep, I have much less patience and probably snap more easily.
