MAC launched their Magically Cool Liquid Powder line today, which includes three shades. Two of the shades, Truth & Light and Cajun, were initially launched with the Venomous Villains collection last fall. Honey Rose, the one I received, is a new shade. All three shades are now part of MAC's permanent line-up, so there's no need to rush for these. Magically Cool Liquid Powders are light, silky powders that feel like a mist of water going on but dries down to a powder finish. They are meant to be used to set and enhance foundation. They are suitable for dry to oily skin types. Each jar of Magically Cool Liquid Powder comes with 24 grams of product, and retails for $35.50.
Magically Cool Liquid Powders are made of 70% water, so it is advisable to keep the lid on the jar very tightly shut when not in use so the water doesn't evaporate. Moreover, I would suggest using a duo fibre brush like MAC's 187 (which is promoted with the collection launch) as opposed to a brush made with real hair so your brush doesn't absorb the water in the powder. For the same reason, also use the lid of the jar rather than a tissue to hold the powder.
Honey Rose Magically Cool Liquid Powder is a sheer champagne beige with a hint of rose pink in a frosty finish. Using MAC's 187 brush with light, feathering motions, Honey Rose imparts a really nice glow to the skin. It does have light-diffusing particles in it to make the skin look more soft and luminous. For those who don't want to use this all over the face, it also works beautifully as a highlighter or to enhance blush. I would be wary of going heavy-handed with this, though, only because of the frost finish. You want to look glowy, not like a disco ball. Magically Cool Liquid Powder probably wouldn't be my first choice to set my foundation, since I tend to like more of a matte look, but for those who want that "J. Lo glow"? This might answer your prayers. And, hey, the initial cooling effect is just the cherry on top for the upcoming hot summer days.
