While I was at Shoppers last night, I finally picked up Bella Bamba, which is the latest addition to Benefit's Boxed Powders collection. It's a brightened watermelon pink with pale gold shimmer. I'd say this is one of the more pigmented shades of Benefit's boxed powders, if not the most pigmented. It has a soft and fine texture for easy blending, but it can be used more heavily as an intense blusher and it should show up quite nicely on almost all skintones. Bella Bamba is most definitely a pink shade, not a peachy-pink shade, like Coralista or Nars Orgasm. The closest shade that I have to this would be Nars Angelika – Bella Bamba seems to have a cooler base, but the golden sheen neutralizes it. When worn, this will make anyone look fresher, brighter, and younger. It's an instant pick-me-up.
In terms of packaging, Bella Bamba differs from Benefit's other boxed powders – this one has a flip top, while the other powders have removable lids. Moreover, Bella Bamba comes with less product than the other powders (0.28 oz. vs. 0.35 - 0.42 oz.), but comes with a built-in mirror, which the other powders don't have. I also found the mini brush included with Bella Bamba to have softer bristles than the brushes that come with the other powders – though it must be noted that I've never actually used the included brushes in execution, so I'm not sure how well they work. All in all, I'd have to say that this is definitely my new favourite Benefit boxed powder.
Doesn't Murale have an event on right now to celebrate the release of Bella Bamba?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I love the packaging especially the font! I'm a font nut. Like I actually dream about which fonts I want lol.
I ended up redeeming my points at Sephora and got the Coralista blush. Me-likes!
ooopps I meant which fonts I want to use from myfonts.com
ReplyDeleteYeah, Murale had their Bella Bamba event this weekend... I didn't go, but apparently they were offering makeovers and gift with purchases! But since I'm staff, I wouldn't be able to take advantage, anyway. :P
ReplyDeleteAnd, yes, Bella Bamba is probably my favourite packaging of Benefit's boxed powders... maybe tied with Dandelion. :) I love that you can see the holographic lace print when you open the box!
Funny, I actually studied typography when I was in the Graphic Design program at Parsons, and then again when I was at Ryerson, so I'm a freak when it comes to fonts. :P
Really!? I'm so jelly (jelly=jealous. Welcome to my world of made up words).
ReplyDeleteOK, I gotta ask: Who wins the battle between Brandon Grotesque or Helvetica Neue?
What's your fave font?
I really wish I could go back to school for Graphic Design, but I feel like my career as a professional student is finito.
Hmm... Well, I love both Brandon Grotesque and Helvetica Neue... But if it came down to it, I think I like Brandon slightly more only because it looks great in all styles (small, large, italics, bold), whereas I only like Helvetica in certain styles. Plus, Helvetica's getting kind of boring to me. :P
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a favourite font of all time! I change my mind too often. But I am currently enjoying Raleway quite a bit. It's not the most versatile, but there's something elegant yet simple about it. I actually like a lot of the fonts by The League of Moveable Type. :)
Haha, we are such nerds.
My friend recently enrolled in the certificate program for Graphic Communications Management at Ryerson's The Chang School. She's 28 and already has a college diploma, and already had a career at Rogers. And her teacher at Ryerson went to middle school with her, lol! Point is, it's never too late to learn. ;)
OMG I have Raleway, too!!! I love it. And people always rave about Helvetica Neue, but I really only like the light and ultra light variants.
ReplyDeleteAm always looking for new fonts. Right now my favourites are: Monroe, Lady Rene, Quicksand, and Buttermilk.
And you're totally right.
