Impromptu after-work dinner at Markham Sushi with Chelsea tonight. I hadn't been there in a few months, and recently they changed management and revamped their menu. I liked it before, but I was truly impressed tonight. The attention to quality is very apparent in both the food, presentation, and service. We ordered the chicken karaage to start — incredibly tender, super light and crispy batter, fried to golden perfection. I actually think this might be my favourite variation of the dish that I've had in the city. We decided to forego the special rolls and got the sashimi/nigiri/maki combo for 2 to share instead. Of course, this is where they excel. Fish was fresh, preparation was neat, presentation was on-point, and portions were fair for the price. Finally, dessert, for which they added two brand new items — the yuzu pannacotta and the Earl Grey crème brûlée. Both were absolutely gorgeous with amazing flavours and lovely textures. The crème brûlée was especially outstanding. This is a sushi restaurant, but the dessert here is better than some of those at actual dessert places. Thumbs up and five stars. It's my new favourite sushi restaurant in this part of the city.
