What's in My Bag?

Thursday, March 6, 2014

It's been nearly a year since I've done a "What's in My Bag?" post (my last one is here), and I thought it was about time to do an updated one. I have a weird obsession with seeing what other people carry in their purses; I'm addicted to reading these types of posts and watching these types of videos on YouTube. That sounds totally creepy, but I know I'm not the only one that's a nosy git. I've been pretty much carrying my Marc by Marc Jacobs Classic Q Fran Bag exclusively since I got it last year, but the contents of my bag are still pretty similar to a year ago with a few changes here and there... You will notice, however, that I've downsized (a bit)!

What's actually in my bag (going clockwise):
  • Marc by Marc Jacobs cosmetics bag
  • Hello Kitty pocket facial tissues
  • Advil Liqui-Gels and Advil Migraine Capsules
  • Wet Ones Anti-Bacterial Citrus Scent Hand & Face Wipes
  • Excel Peppermint Mints
  • Excel Polar Ice Gum
  • Pack of bobby pins
  • Cigarettes
  • Lighter
  • Business cards
  • Atelier Cologne Cédrat Enivrant Cologne Absolue (100 ml)
  • Apple iPhone 4S
  • Muji gel ink pens
  • Miu Miu Matelassé Lock Wallet
  • Keys (and lots of key fobs to make them easier to find in my purse)
  • Crabtree & Evelyn Pomegranate, Argan & Grapeseed Ultra Moisturizing Hand Therapy

And what's in my make-up bag (top row and bottom row):
  • Urban Decay Naked Skin Ultra Definition Pressed Finishing Powder in Naked Medium
  • Tweezerman travel-size slanted tweezers
  • Boscia Green Tea Blotting Linens
  • MAC Fix+ Finishing Spray (30 ml)
  • Hello Kitty Band-Aid
  • Visine Contact Lens Dry Eye Drops
  • EOS Blueberry Acai Smooth Sphere Lip Balm
  • MAC Up the Amp Lipstick
  • MAC Bold Spring Mineralize Rich Lipstick
  • MAC Pure Pout Mineralize Rich Lipstick
  • MAC Nectarsweet Cremesheen Glass
  • Tarte Inspired Glamazon Lipstick
  • Tarte Pure Glamazon Lipstick
  • Chanel 50 Rivage Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick
  • YSL 15 Corail Intuitive Rouge Volupté Lipstick
  • YSL 19 Fuchsia in Rage Rouge Volupté Lipstick
  • Urban Decay Naked2 Revolution Lipstick
  • MAC Magenta Lip Pencil
  • Hair elastics

Is my bag as heavy as a bowling ball? Why, yes, yes it is. What can I say, I'm high-maintenance. (At least my left arm is really toned.) The lip products usually change depending on my mood and the seasons (as you can tell, I've been wearing a lot of peachy nudes or bright pinky purples recently), but I've done a lot better at "minimizing" the make-up that I carry around with me considering that I used to carry double the amount! Is anyone else as crazy as I am with their lippies? No?

What do you carry in your purse? Do you have emergency back-up lipsticks like I do?

  1. Haha, holy crap, Denise. I don't carry the same bag all the time, and I hate when it gets heavy or if I have to try to fish around for stuff, so I try to pare it down as much as I possibly can. Usually just whatever lipstick I'm wearing that day comes along...and eye drops. HAHAHA.

    1. I don't love carrying a heavy bag, but then I'm one of those people who gets anxiety if I don't have everything with me so I'd rather be prepared and deal with the weight, lol. My guy friends compare my purse to Hermione's bag in Harry Potter. And I'm like, "Don't be ridiculous. I don't have a tent in here."

I am thinking about getting a smaller crossbody bag, like a Rebecca Minkoff MAC Daddy, to force myself to be more organized about what I bring with me. Like, I probably don't need to bring an entire 100 ml bottle of perfume with me...

  2. hahahah so...if we counted this is like what. only 1% of your entire lipstick collection in your bag? so really...you're doing OKAY!! hahahah. frick...the weight dude...the weight...

i know what you mean, i love reading and watching these posts too. and when my friend brings out their make up bags i always have to rifle through. i'm always trying to pare things down cause i can't stand how heavy m bag can get! i even have a few wallets i switch between to try and eliminate carrying around all those plastic cards.

    1. LOL. I think the problem is that my bag has the space. So I feel the need to fill it. Same with my make-up bag. Maybe I just need to get smaller bags. :P

  3. I really can't do heavy bags anymore, lol. Whatever practice I had because of work just DIED this year and I practically carry plastic bags instead for lightness!

Hey, you got a new perfume! How are you liking this one and did you move past the Fresh or are you just rotating?

    1. LOL! I can't help it, I need a sturdy leather bag. I won't use anything else. I'm thinking of getting a crossbody one, though, so my arm doesn't feel as tired. :P

I LOVE this perfume! I was at Sephora and kept going back to this one and finally took the plunge and bought it a couple weeks ago. This one is more fresh and citrusy in an almost unisex kind of way (it has vetiver in it, so it's more musky and green when it dries down), whereas Sugar Lychee is sweeter, fruitier, and more feminine. I have switched to this one for now, but I definitely see myself rotating between this and Fresh Sugar Lychee. I do like that this one wears longer, though. I can still smell it on my skin after like, ten hours.

  4. Ahhhh! I love seeing what's in your bag. I also noticed you have a new perfume, based on your response to Liz. Shall sniff that the next time I get a chance. Atelier Cologne seems to have good reviews and I like the packaging. I have issues with small bags myself as I like to have enough space to chuck stuff in like my headphones and emergency phone charging cable, etc.

You do carry a lot of nice stuff - and it's always nice to have a range of lipsticks to choose from. Keeps the mystery, you know? Especially if you wear a different colour post lunch.

Oh, I was wondering, how do you like your Marc Jacobs bag? I'm on the lookout for a durable leather bag that can withstand Scandinavian weather and still looks classy. Would you recommend Marc Jacobs?

    1. Yes, you should definitely give the perfume a sniff! It's great that Sephora finally started carrying Atelier Cologne because I've always been intrigued by the brand but it wasn't that widely available before. I received a sample of the Orange Sanguine scent a couple years ago in one of those beauty subscription boxes and quite liked it. But I like this one better because it's fresher and more citrus rather than straight-up orange, lol. If you like your citrusy scents, then this one is worth checking out. :)

I think when you have hundreds of lipsticks, it's hard not to carry a variety of them with you. I wear colour by mood, so what if I'm feeling purpley by the afternoon? LOL. I need to be prepared!

I LOVE Marc Jacobs bags. I have a few of them now, and all of them still look brand new. They can definitely take a beating. They're durable, look classy, and can withstand CANADIAN weather. ;)

  5. Argh that wallet always GETS me! So, so sexy.

I'm the same as Larie, I usually just carry my lip colour of the day, and then I have a couple permanent items like the Boscia papers, a hair elastic, a lip balm of some sort, and whatever hand cream I'm using at the moment. That is a WHOLE LOTTA lippies in there! LOL...But then again, you have about 1000% more makeup that I do so I guess you can stand to have a bunch in there and not even miss 'em haha ;)

    1. Haha, thanks. It's still one of my favourite purchases of all time. :) And even though it was super expensive when I bought it, it has one of the lowest cost per use rates out of anything I own!

LOL, that amount of lippies is already CUTTING DOWN. :P Though I'm trying to cut down further and make a conscious effort to just keep it down to what I'm wearing that day plus one other option and maybe an extra gloss. :P
