MAC Semi-Precious: Cremesheen Glasses

MAC's Semi-Precious collection sees the release of five new and limited edition shades of Cremesheen Glass, of which I picked four. The Cremesheen Glasses are housed in regular clear tubes with black caps, and have doe-foot applicators. I'm so glad that MAC finally decided to release some new shades of Cremesheen Glasse, since it's my favourite lip gloss formula. They're creamy, shiny, completely non-sticky, and are vanilla-scented and taste-free. They're generally a more sheer formula of lip gloss, making them ideal for layering on top of lipsticks. As a result of a less tacky formula, they don't last very long on the lip, perhaps two hours. Each Cremesheen Glass contains 2.7 grams of product, and retails for $22.

Looks Like Sin, Geo Pink, Natural Flare, and Pure Magnificence

Looks Like Sin is a sheer berry plum. It is a re-promoted shade from 2009's Cremeteam collection. There is a slight brown undertone to this, which offsets the coolness of the plum shade. This will work well on all undertones and skintones. I can't really think of anything that's similar to this shade. Perhaps a much, much sheerer version of Pop Mode Lipglass without shimmer, but it's a bit of a stretch.

Geo Pink is a semi-opaque coral with soft white-pink micro-shimmer. I'm surprised that there's shimmer in this at all, because Cremesheen Glasses are known for it's creamy, no-shimmer finishes. It actually looks more like a Dazzleglass Creme (which has been discontinued). The texture is in-line with Cremesheen Glass, though. It's like a slightly deeper, more orange version of Lychee Luxe.

Natural Flare is a semi-opaque medium peachy-tan with soft white micro-shimmer. Again, this looks more like a Dazzleglass Creme, but still has the creamy, non-sticky texture of Cremesheen Glasses. It's like if Beaux and Sinnamon Lustreglasses had a baby.

Pure Magnificence is a sheer pale milky pink with a grey undertone. This shade is ideal for lightening darker lipsticks, muting bright lipsticks, or adding a hint of pink to nude lipsticks. The grey undertone doesn't really register when applied. Worn alone, it will add a milkiness to lips, so it's good for those who want to lighten or alleviate the redness in lips. When worn, it actually looks incredibly similar to Fashion Scoop.

The shades of these Cremesheen Glasses are very much meant to be worn in conjunction with the lipsticks from this collection (which is perhaps why the lipsticks are all so sheer). Because it's still summer, I see Geo Pink being the most popular choice and I reckon that it'll be the first one to sell out. Looks Like Sin looks very much like a fall colour to me, but it does make trying berry-plum shades much easier because it doesn't go on very dark. I was very surprised to see shimmer in a couple of these (Geo Pink and Natural Flare), because a lot of people like Cremesheen Glasses for the non-shimmery finishes. I'm personally indifferent to the shimmer, because I still love the feel of these glosses.
