Oh, yes, this is what we've been waiting for: DIM SUM! We decided to indulge in the all-you-can-eat dim sum set menu at the aptly named The Chinese Restaurant:
Steamed shrimp and vegetable dumplings and shrimp and bamboo shoot dumplings
Steamed morel and elm fungus dumplings
Steamed pork dumplings with flying fish roe
Fried black truffle and vegetable spring rolls
Fried glutinous dumplings with pork and sakura shrimp
Steamed sesame paste buns
Steamed turnip cake with Chinese dried sausage, cured pork belly, dried scallop, and dried shrimp
BBQ pork
Mung bean noodles with shredded chicken, cucumber, and carrot with sesame dressing
Yam noodle soup with sliced fish and picked mustard greens
Unlike most dim sum places, everything here is made to order so you can choose the portion sizes you want. (We did order duplicates of most of the dumplings.) It is by far the freshest dim sum I've ever had. (In an unexpected turn of events, the BBQ pork here is also some of the best I've ever had.) Incredible quality and flavours, and equally amazing service. It is pricey at $388 HKD per person plus another $38 HKD per person for the tea service, but you get what you pay for. And for me, it was a perfect dim sum experience.
