Dining Out: Tteokbokki, Buchujeon, and Mul Naengmyeon at Hansin Gamjatang

Finally got to meet up with Ying to take her out for a belated birthday dinner. She decided on Korean food, so we took the opportunity to try out Hansin Gamjatang:

Tteokbokki

Buchujeon

Mul naengmyeon

I'm not sure why I hadn't come here before. Markham doesn't have a ton of Korean restaurants (except for Korean fried chicken joints, which I put in a different category) but the majority of them are either not particularly authentic or just not very good. This place is both authentic (I say this having come back from Korea two months ago), and their food is exceptionally good. The tteokbokki has just the right amount of chew and the perfect amount of spice (leaves a satisfying burn, but not so spicy that you can't taste the tang); the buchujeon is thin, crispy on the outside, and generously packed full of chives; and the mul naengmyeon had a perfectly chilled, flavourful broth (no extra ice needed!), and thin buckwheat noodles with just the right amount of chew (made extra tasty with spicy mustard and vinegar mixed in). It might be a little premature to call this my favourite Korean restaurant in Markham after only one visit, but I will absolutely be coming back to try the other dishes.
