(Warning: This post is long and photo-heavy.)
Since 2020, there are two types of ARMY memberships to choose from. The original membership costs $22 USD and the Merch Pack membership costs $150 USD. They are available exclusively through Weverse Shop. Both memberships come with the same perks — exclusive membership content (photos, videos, etc.), access to exclusive merchandise, exclusive concert presale codes, among other things — but the Merch Pack membership includes four merchandise packages a year. Either membership also gives you access to purchase the ARMY Membership Kit, which costs $13 USD (plus shipping). You can, of course, get the membership without getting the kit, but the kit is one of the few physical products released that is membership-exclusive.
This year's ARMY Membership Kit theme is "Suite Life." It comes packaged in a black outer box, which has your personal membership card inside a plastic pocket that is attached to the front. This year's kit includes the obligatory "user guide," a pack of playing cards, a set of chip stickers, a set of member photocards, a fold-out poster, and of course, the annual ARMY.ZIP magazine.
For the first time, the user guide actually comes with English translations on it. And this year, the user guide sheet features all seven members' individual illustrations and text:
- RM — Illustration of the ARMY Membership Kit box and member card. The text says, "Are you looking forward to this year's ARMY Kit as well?"
- Jin — Illustration of the ARMY.ZIP photobook. The text says, "Ta-da! Let's take a look at ARMY.ZIP first! Pop quiz: How many times will my face appear in this ARMY.ZIP?"
- Suga — Illustration of a playing card. The text says, "Next is BTS Playing Cards featuring our very own images."
- J-Hope — Illustration of playing card suits. The text says, "Have fun with your family or friends with BTS Playing Cards!"
- Jimin — Illustration of gaming chips. The text says, "You can use BTS Chip Stickers for games or to decorate anything you want!"
- V — Illustration of BTS photocards. The text says, "You can check out these selfies of seven of us only on photocards."
- Jungkook — Illustration of a poster. The text says, "Let's hang the large-sized poster with all BTS members on a wall!"
The kit comes with a standard French-suited, 52-card deck of playing cards, plus two Jokers. The back of the cards feature a quadrant design made up of the BTS and ARMY logos in black and white. On the front, Spade and Club cards come with black frames and Heart and Diamond cards come with white frames. For each suit, the same seven cards feature a member's photo:
- RM - A
- Jin - 3
- Suga - 7
- J-Hope - 9
- Jimin - J
- V - Q
- Jungkook - K
The ARMY.ZIP is a soft cover magazine, and this year's edition has 122 pages with 7 sections — one for each member and two photoshoots per member, all of which were taken place in various rooms of a luxury hotel. There are short messages from each member to ARMYs at the back, but otherwise, this magazine only contains photos. As mentioned, the theme of this photobook is "Suite Life." Basically, they got sick of the office life and said, "Fuck it, we're going on vacation!" So I guess they went to a hotel with a casino that uses BTS playing cards and poker chips. Sweet life, indeed!
