Wow, it's finally official. And I love that they did it on their own terms.
We all knew it was going to happen so it shouldn't come as a surprise, but it's hard to actually process now that it's time. There's been so much speculation about their military service over the years — talks of exemption, exceptions, whether they'll go altogether to keep their hiatus as short as possible, or scattered so they would focus on their solo endeavours for longer. With the anthology album being released this year and them officially taking the time to focus on their solo activities, all signs pointed towards them enlisting by next year, but it's officially been announced now that enlistment will start with Jin by the end of this month and the rest of the members following suit so that they'll be back together sometime in 2025. In my opinion, this was the smartest and most honourable way of keeping their duty while also giving a big 'fuck you' to the South Korean government, who has been trying to meddle with this for years.
It's a bitter pill to swallow because they've been my constant for so long — and I know that many of my fellow ARMYs feel the same — but I will wait and support them, my eternal artists, always.
