Went to check out a new Korean chicken place called Hoolala Chicken with Ying this evening upon recommendation from my co-workers. Hoolala specializes in two styles of chicken so we got one of each: The Secret BBQ charcoal grilled chicken, which is sautéed in their secret sauce that tastes suspiciously like yangnyeom (sweet, spicy, and tangy), and the Garlic Fried Korean Fried Chicken, which is sautéed with garlic sauce.

Both were excellent — the chicken was juicy and tender (even the white meat!), the flavour combinations were incredible, and the portion sizes were perfect. (For reference, we got the small size for the charcoal grilled chicken and the half size for the fried chicken.) The charcoal grilled chicken is tossed with tteok and comes with a side of cajun rice, and the fried chicken comes with fries so you don't have to order extra sides as well. Plus, you get pickled radish and coleslaw as palate cleansers. All of that, plus two cans of pop, came to less than $20 per person after tax and tip, which might make it one of the cheaper Korean chicken restaurants that I've been to in the GTA. Service could've been more attentive, but it's forgivable as they're new and were quite busy on this Friday night. Will definitely come back here again to try more flavour options — especially the charcoal grilled chicken, which really sets them apart from the typical Korean chicken joint.
