CAKE!!! 🍰🍰🍰
Yep, back again with Butter Baker because we couldn't ignore their cakes. They're the crown jewels of their many, many offerings. You can get whole cakes or individual slices, but since variety is the spice of life or whatever, we went with slices 'cause we wanted to try as many as possible. (You know, within reason.)
Our choices, based on availability: Blueberry Lemon Dream, R & P (Raspberry & Pistachio), and Passion Fruit Milk Chocolate. Three very different flavour profiles, but whether you like fruity, nutty, or chocolatey, there is definitely something for everyone. You can literally taste every individual flavour in all three cakes and there is no mistaking what those flavours are. Like, the pistachio and raspberry cake? I find that some pastries that include pistachio lose that distinct nutty flavour because there isn't enough, but this cake is like, BAM! WE ARE PISTACHIOS. But the raspberry filling, thinly layered between the pistachio cake, is tart and sweet and pairs so well with the nuttiness. It's the same with the Passion Fruit Milk Chocolate. It is VERY chocolatey but simultaneously VERY passion fruity. But the passion fruit mellows out the intense chocolate flavour really well.
Now, maybe it's because it's summer and it's freaking hot out and I want something more light and refreshing, but the Blueberry Lemon Dream was, let's just say, very aptly named. Again, you can taste the individual blueberry and lemon flavours really well, but it's not as intense as the other two cakes, so you can eat WAY MORE of it. (Which could be dangerous, so please, use some self-control. Just a little.) It was positively delightful, 10/10, will buy again. All three cakes were fantastic, though, in textures, flavour combinations, cake-to-cream-to-filling ratio, consistency, and aesthetics. Like, if cake is your thing, you need to come here. So just treat them like Pokemon: Gotta catch 'em all.
