The first ever live performance of "Dynamite"! They fucking killed it. The live vocals, the choreography, the styling, the visuals. Jungkook's ad libs, Jungkook and Jimin's little dance in the middle of the choreo, Namjoon's aqua hair, Hobi's forehead (!!!), the tailored suit vests, the Michael Jackson kicks... Quite frankly, this is the only reason I bothered watching the VMAs at all. (Honestly, BTS is the only reason I watch any music award show... so, moot point, I guess.)
And congratulations to our boys for winning all four of the categories they were nominated in tonight: Best Group, Best K-Pop, Best Choreography, and Best Pop! Quite frankly, the Best Group, Best K-Pop, and Best Choreo wins were expected, but Best Pop? Against the likes of Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Halsey, and Jonas Brothers? Finally, finally, finally, they're being recognized as a big player in the global pop music game and not just fucking K-Pop. They've been out-selling and out-performing their Western counterparts for so long, and even though the VMAs aren't exactly prestigious as far as music awards go, this is a huge step forward for any non-Western artist in the American music industry and BTS really fucking deserved it.
