BTS at Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve: "Make It Right" and "Boy With Luv"

Been waiting all damn day for BTS' performance at the New Year's Rockin' Eve. I took these videos while watching them perform on TV so I could send them to my friend Maegan, who does't have cable (the Times Square livestreams weren't showing the performances), but I figured I'd just upload them to re-watch until official clips get released (and perhaps a Bangtan Bomb, cross fingers!). My thoughts:

  • They all look BEAUTIFUL. Their stylists did a phenomenal job. They tend to wear flashier, more androgynous clothes when they perform in Korea, but they tone it down when they're doing American public appearances. (The American general public just isn't ready for it, IMO.) I think they look gorgeous regardless, but these outfits look clean, sleek, and chic, with just enough sparkle to make it festive. (Also, please dress Kookie in tight turtlenecks more, 'cause wow, his chest is a work of art.)
  • They finally performed "Make It Right" with choreography! I mean, it was a short bit, maybe created just for this particular stage (they didn't have any choreo for "Make It Right" during their Speak Yourself tour, and any time it's been performed live in a public appearance, it's always been sitting down on stools). But the jacket-off-the-shoulder move followed by that body roll-hip thrust? DO THEY WANT TO KILL US? Like, I need a full-length choreography, STAT.
  • I'm sorry, but WOW, JIMIN. Okay, I know he's one of my biases (the other being Jungkook — they both wreck my top bias spot equally so I just have two biases), but quite frankly, his stage presence and charisma are unparalleled. Even the way he walks is like strutting on a runway. My mom was watching this with me, and she said to me in Cantonese, "Waaahh, that Jimin is one good-looking boy. And look at his dancing! He was born to perform." I'm like, "FACTS, MOM."
  • But also, Jimin accidentally flipping his jacket above his head, and then making that split second decision to leave it on while dancing because he knows he's fucking adorable? BIG FAT MOOD.
  • The performance was amazing and impactful for an American audience, especially those who are watching BTS perform for the first time. Vocals and choreography were executed flawlessly. Perfect for capturing the interest of the locals. Eight minutes is all they need. I reckon a lot of people will become new ARMYs tonight.
