What is more appropriate for a post-BTS concert meal than Korean BBQ? We took the train back to Penn Station from MetLife Stadium and were thinking of a place to eat a late dinner (it was nearing midnight by the time we got back in the city), and it just so happened that we were a few blocks away from Koreatown, which is also home to a dozen restaurants that are open late (or open 24-hours). Since we were both craving Korean BBQ, I Googled the best one in NYC and we headed over to Jongro BBQ. There was quite a line-up formed when we got there (half of which were ARMYs that must've taken the same train back to NYC from New Jersey), but they opened up another section with the sudden influx of customers, so we got a table within 15 minutes.

After perusing the menu, we decided that we were starving (we hadn't eaten for nearly eight hours at that point), so we got the pork platter with pork belly, Boston butt, and pork jowl, and the USDA Prime kalbi. No rice, just lettuce leaves for ssam. Two ttukbaegi of gyeran-jjim and spicy tofu soup. Sides of kimchi, white onion with jalapeños, pickled red onion, green onions with bean sprouts, as well as soy bean paste and salt. I've forgotten what Korean BBQ should actually be like: Thick cuts of high quality meat, proper traditional side dishes, a server that actually does all the prep work for you (cutting and cooking the meat), a proper vent right above the grill, and actually run by Koreans. By far the best (and most authentic) Korean BBQ I've had in 15 years. (As if it couldn't get better, they played "DNA" by BTS just as we were finished paying. A good time is a good time.)
