Photolog 2019: Day 137 of 365 (Part 1)

We're staying at my brother's old apartment in the Financial District (my brother and sister-in-law moved to Midtown but they paid the rent for their old apartment until the end of the month, so they generously let us stay there so we didn't have to pay for a hotel). The trip from LaGuardia to FiDi should only have been about 20 to 25 minutes, but there was an insane amount of traffic due to construction (they literally closed all lanes except for one on the bridge so just merging took a solid 15 minutes), so the trip ended up taking nearly 45 minutes. By the time we got to the apartment, it was nearing midnight, and we were tired and hungry.

On a hunt for food, I searched for the best late-night eats in the Financial District (it's pretty limited). We decided to go for pizza, 'cause when in New York, you gotta have New York pizza. So off we went to the famous Joe's Pizza, arguably the place for the quintessential New York pizza, which just opened an outpost in FiDi earlier this year. It was crazy busy in there at 1:00AM, with a steady stream of (mostly drunk) customers going in and out for a hot slice. We decided just to order a whole pie to take back to the apartment to eat 'cause it was only a three-minute walk away and it was too crowded in the tiny space. My choice? White pizza. Ronsee's choice? The supreme. So we decided to share a half-and-half. And after scarfing down three slices each, we both concluded: My choice was better.

As if there was any doubt.
