MAC Lunar New Year: Powder Blush Duo in Love Token/Long Life & Happiness

Today, MAC will be launching their annual Lunar New Year collection, available online and at select MAC locations. For the Year of the Dog, MAC has created a peach-themed colour story with festive packaging resembling the traditional Chinese longevity peach buns that represent the Peaches of Immortality. The Lunar New Year collection includes a total of seven new and limited edition products. This is the first time that MAC is launching a Lunar New Year collection with entirely new and limited shades in special packaging. (Previous years have only seen re-promoted or permanent shades with only the box packaging as special edition for the Lunar New Year collections.) This year's Lunar New Year collection sees the launch of one new and limited edition Powder Blush Duo. It is housed in a circular mirrored compact in beige to hot pink ombre soft touch packaging with a matching card stock box. Each Powder Blush Duo contains 10 grams of product, and retails for $34.

Love Token is a medium warm-neutral cotton candy pink in a Matte finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a soft, finely-milled texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is lighter and more muted than Lovecloud, more matte than Dainty, and more muted than Pinch O' Peach.

Long Life & Happiness is a light-medium warm muted peach in a Matte finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a soft, finely-milled texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is lighter and more muted than Peaches, lighter and more peach than Melba, and more matte than New Romance.

Two gorgeous shades for softly flushed cheeks that pair perfectly with the eyeshadow palette and lipsticks in this collection. MAC has definitely improved on their blush formula over the last year, especially in these limited edition duos. Both shades in this compact are incredibly smooth and silky; they apply evenly and blend out incredibly well. Both Love Token and Long Life & Happiness (totally loving these names, by the way) are lovely on their own, and if you choose to mix the two, they become an incredibly flattering, warm, soft peachy pink. These shades definitely fit in with the current makeup trends in Asia, where soft peaches and pinks for cheeks reign supreme. Coincidentally, these shades will also be perfect for a sweet, fresh-faced look for Spring. Plus, the packaging is just freaking cute. This collection has already received a lot of hype all over social media, so I do think everything will sell out very fast, especially given that MAC is notorious for having very limited stock of highly anticipated launches.
