Last Thursday, MAC launched a new collection of Extra Dimension Skinfinish shade extensions and Extra Dimension Blushes: "With their shimmering, high-shine finishes and dual-action light that gives skin a smooth glow, Extra Dimension products are perfect for the highlighting habitué in all of us. Now, our modern hybrid makeup — which combines the smoothness of a cream, the blendability of a liquid and the finish of a powder with long-wearing colour and prismatic reflections — amps up the innovation with new shades of Extra Dimension Blush. From soft pastels to corals to plums, Extra Dimension Blush delivers polished textures that reflect light and leave a smooth second-skin finish." This collection features a total of 16 products, of which 10 are new and permanent, four are re-promotes and now permanent, and two are permanent. Extra Dimension sees the launch of 10 new and one re-promoted shades of Extra Dimension Blush, all of which will be added to MAC's permanent line-up. They are housed in regular black round clear-lidded compact with the MAC logo on the lid. Each Extra Dimension Blush contains a total of 4 grams of product, and retails for $33.

Fairly Precious, Hushed Tone, and Hard to Get

Fairly Precious, Hushed Tone, and Hard to Get

Fairly Precious is a light warm champagne peach in a luminous pearlized finish. This is a re-promoted shade from 2013's Magnetic Nude collection, and is now permanent. (Note: This shade was previously released as an Extra Dimension Skinfinish.) It has a lightweight, silky texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is lighter and more muted than Just a Pinch, slightly lighter than New Romance, and more peach than Margin.
Hushed Tone is a medium-dark warm peachy bronze in a luminous pearlized finish. This is a new and permanent shade. It has a lightweight, silky texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is darker than Warm Soul, more luminous than Sunbasque, and lighter than Peachtwist.
Hard to Get is a dark warm reddened brown in a luminous pearlized finish. This is a new and permanent shade. It has a lightweight, silky texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is darker and more brown than Hushed Tone, darker and more luminous than Sweet as Cocoa, and darker and more brown than Love Joy.

I've always loved the Extra Dimension Blush formula for its weightless, silky texture, ease of blendability, and smooth finish, but MAC has definitely improved the formula since its inception. Previously, Extra Dimension Blushes had a sheerer colour pay-off and a satin finish, but these truly combine the liquid-powder technology behind Extra Dimension Skinfinish highlighters to create super-pigmented, beautifully luminous blushes without veering into metallic territory. These are for people who want shimmer and sheen in their cheek colours without the graininess of traditional frosted blushes, and a more sculpted dimensional look than what Mineralize Blushes can offer. The result is a gorgeously radiant, dewy finish that makes skin look smoother and fresher — for all ages and all skintones.
