Last Thursday, MAC launched a new collection featuring a new lip product called Huggable Lipcolour. It is "a new formula inspired by Asian trends, hugging your lips in twelve hues that stay bright and luminous for up to six hours." Huggable Lipcolour features "an array of creamy emollients... [that] provides a lasting, glossy finish that leaves lips smooth and sculpted." All twelve shades in this collection are new and limited edition. Like all MAC lipsticks, they are vanilla-scented but taste-free. They are packaged in a cylindrical metal tube like that of the Sheen Supreme Lipsticks, but these come in a gunmetal colour. Each Huggable Lipcolour comes with 3.2 grams of product, and retails for $24. Due to their limited edition nature, these lipsticks are not applicable for the Back to MAC recycling program.
Touché is a light-medium peach-toned beige with a glossy finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. The texture is soft and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer to semi-opaque buildable colour pay-off. It is less pink than Peach Blossom, and lighter and more peach than Bare Again Sheen Supreme Lipstick.
Fresh & Frisky is a medium orange-toned peach with a glossy finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. The texture is soft and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer to semi-opaque buildable colour pay-off. It is lighter and more sheer than Ravishing, and more muted than Style Surge Mineralize Rich Lipstick.
Fashion Force is a medium pinked coral with a glossy finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. The texture is soft and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer to semi-opaque buildable colour pay-off. It is lighter and more sheer than Crosswires, and darker and more pink than Style Surge Mineralize Rich Lipstick.
Cherry Glaze is a medium-dark brightened orange-toned red with a glossy finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. The texture is soft and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer to semi-opaque buildable colour pay-off. It is more orange-toned than Lady Bug, and more red than Korean Candy Sheen Supreme Lipstick.
When I first saw these, I thought it was going to be very similar to the Sheen Supreme formula. I mean, these come in the same tubes (except gunmetal instead of black), and they both have a glossy finish with medium buildable coverage. But you can actually tell the difference the moment you apply these. There's a slight tacky feeling to these that's not uncomfortable or sticky, but contributes to the wear-time of the formula, which is about three to six hours (lighter shades will wear less, but the brighter and darker shades will wear longer). The Sheen Supreme Lipsticks by comparison wear about two before wearing off because they're so creamy. The Huggable Lipcolours have a kind of strange consistency, where they tug a little bit at first because there's very little slip; it really feels like they are clinging on the lips (I guess that's where the "huggable" part comes in), which I found actually helps these colours from bleeding.
I didn't really get what MAC meant by "lip-sculpting collagen" until I saw what these looked like on my lips about five minutes after applying them (once my lips warmed up the lip colour). Aside from making lips look juicier and more plump overall (they have a more gel-like look than creamy), I found that these have an almost "blurring" effect, smoothing out the texture of my lips completely so they look... perfect (a great feat in this weather!). These aren't immediately hydrating like the Sheen Supreme Lipsticks or Mineralize Rich Lipsticks, but I did find that they were hydrating over time. These are great for those who like a glossy finish to their lipsticks, but want something a little more long-wearing than the typical shiny lipstick formula, or want a glossy lipstick that doesn't bleed.
Huh, I guess I hadn't realized that these were LE. Why do they put out LE formulas? So strange.
ReplyDeleteI guess they want to see if a certain formula will sell because they're unsure of the market for it? The only lipstick formula that MAC made permanent without releasing it previously is Mineralize Rich Lipstick, which is their "luxury" formula. The rest of them (Huggable Lipcolour, Kissable Lipcolour, Mattene, Sheen Supreme, Pro Longwear Lipcreme, etc.) had been launched in limited edition collections first.
Deletei wish these weren't LE> it seems like a really good formula to use esp since its a little more long wearing. if i weren't trying to decrease my makeup stash i'd be all over the orange reds
ReplyDeleteLol, fair enough. This is also my pet peeve with LE formulas, because you fall in love with it and can't buy it again! But they do make some of them permanent. I'm still hoping they'll make Mattenes permanent at some point.
DeleteI have to try on one of these shades! Especially F&F and FF. Kind of want a peachy lip colour that isn't too warm and pale without being too orange (although these do lean kind of orangey but they're so pretty).

And keep in mind that they might look orangey in a swatch, but look darker/pinker on the lips, especially since these are semi-opaque! :) Definitely try one on. I think some of the shades will be sold out at many locations now, but check 'em out regardless. So perfect for Spring!
