Not the most exciting colours that MAC has released recently, but it's typical for MAC to launch a very neutral collection alongside a very dramatic collection on Boxing Day, and this year, they were Magnetic Nude and Punk Couture, respectively. While I do think there are very similar shades to these within MAC's permanent range, I will note that Close Contact is a great nude shade for fair to medium skintones, as is Sensual Sparks for medium to dark skintones. Plus, they are both in Amplified formulas, so they're pigmented and rich in colour but are creamy with a soft sheen. Morning Rose is the one shade that literally looks good on everybody from fair to dark, and Carnal Instinct is probably the most unique shade from this launch, working as a great vampy shade for lighter skintones while being a wonderful "everyday" shade for dark skintones. Whereas Punk Couture gave us extremely dark, almost gothic shades in matte finishes, we see the complete opposite here with creamy neutrals and nudes with sheen and shimmer. So whatever your cup of tea is, you'll be sure to find at least one lipstick you'll like from MAC's Boxing Day collections.
morning rose would be the perfect color for everyday!
ReplyDeleteIt's really pretty in person -- just pink enough to add some colour, but still light enough to be a "nude." It's nice MLBB lipstick option, lol.
DeleteMorning Rose looks pretty! But I'm so over nudes right now LOL. Finally moving toward brights but not too bright if you know what I mean!
ReplyDeleteLOL, I get what you mean. ;) You know I prefer brights/darks over nudes on a regular basis, but when I do heavier eye make-up, I like a nude lip so I keep the focus on the eyes. But nude lips are really boring, not gonna lie. :P
DeleteI like Close Contact, though I'd have to try it on because sometimes shades like that look great in swatches but HORRIBLE on my skin tone. Carnal Instinct reminds me a bit of Dare You, wouldn't you say?
ReplyDeleteI reckon Close Contact would be a bit too light for you -- unless you like your nude lipsticks to be REALLY nude (like, concealer nude). Sensual Sparks would look really nice on you, though -- kinda reminds me of Cherish, which is a lovely mid-tone nude. :)
DeleteCarnal Instinct is way more brown than Dare You, and it has a frosted finish. Between the two, I'd go with Dare You. :P
