MAC Cremesheen + Pearl: Cremesheen Glasses

A couple weeks ago, MAC released a new extension collection called Cremesheen + Pearl, which features eight new shades of Cremesheen lipstick and seven new shades of Cremesheen Glass, all of which will become part of MAC's permanent line-up (!). MAC describes Cremesheen Glass as "a lip finish that fuses the creamy, sheen-filled nature of Cremesheen Lipstick with the shine of MAC Lipglass. Soft, comfortable, non-sticky." MAC's Cremesheen Glasses are vanilla-scented, but taste-free. Each Cremesheen Glass comes in regular black packaging with a doe-foot applicator, contains 2.7 grams of product, and retails for $22.50.

Paper Lantern, Double Happiness, Dynasty at Dusk, Imperial Light, Rising Sun, Floating Lotus, and Pagoda

Paper Lantern is a light pink beige with fine white micro-shimmer. It is a new and permanent shade. The texture is lightweight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has low pigmentation and sheer colour pay-off — in fact, it is virtually colourless once applied, so I can see this being more of a layering gloss. It is similar to Lustrewhite Lustreglass, with perhaps less white shimmer.

Double Happiness is a light peachy-pink with fine champagne micro-shimmer. It is a new and permanent shade. The texture is lightweight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer colour pay-off. It is darker and more rose than Boy Bait, and lighter and more peach than Partial to Pink.

Dynasty at Dusk is a medium pink-coral with fine gold micro-shimmer. It is a new and permanent shade. The texture is lightweight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium-high pigmentation and semi-opaque colour pay-off. It is darker and more pink than Richer, Lusher, and more coral than Partial to Pink.

Imperial Light is a medium peachy brown with fine peach-gold micro-shimmer. It is a new and permanent shade. The texture is lightweight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer colour pay-off. It is lighter and less brown than Over Indulgence, and much less pink than Deelight.

Rising Sun is a medium tangerine orange with fine golden-orange micro-shimmer. It is a new and permanent shade. The texture is lightweight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer colour pay-off. It is more orange than Richer, Lusher.

Floating Lotus is a medium cool-toned cotton candy pink with fine soft gold micro-shimmer. It is a new and permanent shade. The texture is lightweight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer colour pay-off. It is slightly less cool than Right Image.

Pagoda is a light-medium cool-toned lilac pink with fine white micro-shimmer. It is a new and permanent shade. The texture is lightweight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer colour pay-off. It is lighter and much cooler than Right Image.

Cremesheen Glass is by far my favourite lip gloss formula from MAC for a few reasons — they're non-sticky, ultra-creamy, super-glossy, and are excellent for layering. The major drawback here is the wear-time, which is three hours at most, but that's the only thing that could be improved upon, in my opinion. While they are not touted as moisturizing, they are definitely not drying, and I feel that these keep my lips soft. Plus, I don't get that dreaded "white ring" around the inside of my lips. Like with the lipsticks, I do feel like some of these shades fill in a gap in what MAC's permanent range was missing before, but I feel like many of them are also really repetitive and too similar to what MAC already offers permanently. Again, I realize that these are very pretty, generally wearable colours (Dynasty at Dusk seriously looks flattering against every skintone), but I feel like there could've been more of a difference between the shades (for example, why couldn't they offer some brighter colours like the ones from Heavenly Creature?). That having been said, hallelujah to more permanent Cremesheen Glasses! It was seriously about time that MAC expanded this range.

  1. I think Pagoda and Floating Lotus are my faves out of this release.

And, thanks to you, Cremesheen Glass is probably my favourite lip gloss formula of any brand. I love to apply it at night because I always wake up with, like the softest lips ever. I've done the same with Lancome and Nars lip glosses and the results weren't quite there.

    1. My favourites are Floating Lotus and Dynasty at Dusk. :) But I've been LOVING Double Happiness on top of my nude lipsticks!

I KNOW, RIGHT? I don't know what the hell I did before Cremesheen Glasses... I've tried SO MANY glosses, even within MAC, and nothing compares to Cremesheen Glass. Granted, they don't wear for very long, but they look and feel gorgeous. :)

      You're welcome, lol!

  2. The names are prettier than the shades! I'm not into almost invisible glosses but Paper Lantern is such a fitting name for that. :) My faves are Dynasty at Dusk and Imperial Light.

    1. Yeah, MAC's on this Asian-inspired kick right now, so it's reflected in the names of all these lippies! I think the names and the colours are very pretty. :) SO GLAD THESE ARE PERMANENT!!!
