MAC released a mini collection called Miss Piggy for MAC two days ago on their website. It's not so much a new collection as it is a singular new eyeshadow, as the "collection" in its entirety consists of three products, two of which are permanent (the Penultimate Eyeliner and #36 Lashes). The only product that is new and limited edition, and the sole reason for this "collection" release, is the eyeshadow, called Miss Piggy Pink. Each eyeshadow contains 1.5 grams of product and comes in regular black packaging. It retails for $18, and is available exclusively online through MAC's website (and is thereby not available for MAC's recycling program).
Miss Piggy Pink
Miss Piggy Pink is a mid-tone blue-based pink in a Frost finish. Upon swatching, it really looks, feels, and performs like a Satin finish eyeshadow. It has more of a sheen than frost, and there's no shimmer or sparkle or a slight metallic look to it, which most Frost finishes have. That having been said, the texture is also on the drier, more powdery side. It has sheer pigmentation, so it does take some work to get opaque colour pay-off. It shows up much better on the eye than on an arm swatch, for sure, but you will need a good primer, a dense brush (like MAC's #239), and some patience to get it as bright as it is in the pan. It is bluer, less pigmented, and less frosted than Swish.
This seems like a very last-minute collection, like MAC just wanted to jump on The Muppets bandwagon somehow. Given the possibilities with Miss Piggy and The Muppets in general, it's really disappointing to see the release of just one new eyeshadow shade. It's a very, very underwhelming collection, and given that there was only one new eyeshadow available, I was disappointed that it wasn't better quality or in special packaging. MAC really could have done something spectacular for their collaboration with Miss Piggy, as with all of their other collaborations with iconic characters, which have an obvious theme and storyline in the shades and packaging (this year's Wonder Woman, last year's Venomous Villains, 2009's Hello Kitty, etc.). I grew up with The Muppets and love the idea of a Miss Piggy eyeshadow, so I don't regret buying it, but if you're not really a fan of Miss Piggy or pink eyeshadows, I would pass on this.
...I just don't get the sudden Muppets fever everyone is on. And I hated that bitch Piggy. LOL
ReplyDeleteLOL! I guess it's because the movie's coming out and The Muppets are classic and they wanted to do as much promotional merch as possible...? But, totally, Miss Piggy was the most annoying character, for sure. But she's really the only female character from The Muppets, so that's why she's always the face for all the cosmetics collections!
