We were hungry at 3:00 in the morning, so Shawn, Vito, and I went over to Markham Station. We all ordered the grilled cheese. I'm usually skeptical about ordering grilled cheese at restaurants because I find that so many places screw up such a classic sandwich. Like, yes, it's bread, butter, and cheese, but a lot of places just can't make a decent grilled cheese. Markham Station is not one of these places, though. Their grilled cheese is ridiculously good. Their version has three different cheeses on a sourdough bread of sorts, and it is awesome. Markham Station has become my go-to place for simple, classic foods.
Then I was craving pie, so I ordered the apple pie with vanilla ice cream, which is their only option. They warmed up the pie so that the innards were nice and gooey but the crust was still flaky, and they put cinnamon on top of the ice cream, and it was just so damn good. I'm just never disappointed at Markham Station. And they're open 24 hours, too. You just can't get better than that.
