A couple weeks ago, MAC launched their annual summer collection called Fruity Juicy: "Shake up the summer with a frootilicious collection of sun-kissed succulence. Take a sweet vacation of tropical colour for lips and eyes." This collection features a total of 22 products, 16 of which are new and limited edition, four are re-promotes and limited edition, and two are permanent. Fruity Juicy sees the launch of four lipsticks that are housed in special edition packaging featuring a tropical fruit and floral print. Each lipstick contains a total of 3 grams of product, and retails for $21. Due to the special edition packaging, these are not applicable in the Back to MAC recycling program.

Calm Heat, Shy Girl, Love at First Bite, and Sí, Sí, Me!

Calm Heat, Shy Girl, Love at First Bite, and Sí, Sí, Me!

Calm Heat is a light warm-neutral pinked beige in a Matte finish. It is a new and limited edition shade. It has a soft, creamy texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It is slightly darker and more pink than Myth, slightly darker than Fleshpot, and lighter and more pink than Honeylove.
Shy Girl is a light-medium warm peach with gold-pink pearl in a Cremesheen finish. It is a permanent shade. It has a soft, creamy texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium pigmentation and semi-opaque colour pay-off. It is lighter and more peach than Shanghai Spice, lighter and more muted than Ravishing, and darker and more peach than Pure Zen.
Love at First Bite is a medium warm watermelon pink with a soft sheen in an Amplified finish. It is a new and limited edition shade. It has a soft, creamy texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It is brighter and more pigmented than Lustering, cooler and more pink than Impassioned, and darker and brighter than Chatterbox.
Sí, Sí, Me! is a medium-dark cool magenta-berry in a Satin finish. It is a new and limited edition shade. It has a soft, creamy texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It is lighter than Rebel, darker and less matte than Flat Out Fabulous, and darker and more purple than Girl About Town.

This is actually a nice shade selection for a summer collection, though I do wish that there was a nice papaya coral or a guava pink — it would be so appropriate for this collection, no? While I've always liked Shy Girl, I do wish that they had come out with a new shade in the peach family instead of re-promoting a permanent shade. I also wish the nude shade were more widely flattering. As it is, Calm Heat is so pale that it'll only really be flattering on those with fair skin tones — fans of Myth, Fleshpot, Japanese Maple, Honeylove, and Yash will like it — so it'll need to be mixed with a lip pencil or a darker lipstick/gloss to make it more wearable. To that end, though, if you're into mixing lipstick shades, Calm Heat is great for lightening shades: mixing it with Shy Girl creates a lovely peachy nude, mixing it with Love at First Bite creates a cotton candy pink, and mixing it with Sí, Sí, Me! creates a soft rosy plum. As much as I love my nude shades, I actually think the must-haves here are Love at First Bite and Sí, Sí, Me!, which are more unique in their respective finishes and will suit all skin tones from fair to deep-dark and cool to warm. All four shades here have dupes within MAC's permanent range, though, so I would check your stash to see if you have anything similar first.
