Tomorrow, MAC will be launching a new collection of Mineralize Skinfinish. MAC describes Mineralize Skinfinish as "a luxurious, slow-baked, velvety soft, domed face powder with a radiant finish. Strategically buff on to add highlights to the high points of the face, or blend all over for a sheer luminous polish to the skin. Features our 77-Mineral Complex and vitamin E." Each of the Mineralize Skinfinish with this launch "features four complementary shades in a pinwheel design that can be applied alone or swirled together for a healthy glow... Ready to enhance any skintone, Mineralize Skinfinish brings new dimension to instant radiance." There are a total of five new and limited edition shades. (Naturally Enhanced will not be reviewed here.) They are packaged in black clear-lidded compacts with magnetized closure. Each Mineralize Skinfinish contains 8 grams of product, and retails for $37.

Faintly Fabulous

Faintly Fabulous (four shades separately, and all four shades swirled together)

Faintly Fabulous combines a pastel buttercup yellow, a peachy beige, a warm peachy pink, and a golden apricot in a pinwheel pattern. When swirled together, they create a light muted warm peach-orange with a soft shimmer-sheen in a satin-frost finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a soft, finely-milled texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is darker and more orange than Soft and Gentle, lighter and more orange than Global Glow, and lighter than Style Powder Blush.

Sunny Side

Sunny Side (four shades separately, and all four shades swirled together)

Sunny Side combines a sunny yellow, a marigold yellow, an apricot orange, and a camel brown in a pinwheel pattern. When swirled together, they create a medium muted warm tan-orange with a soft sheen in a satin finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a soft, finely-milled texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is more brown than Peaches Powder Blush, lighter and more yellow than Modern Mandarin Powder Blush, and much warmer and more yellow than Melba Powder Blush.

Nuanced

Nuanced (four shades separately, and all four shades swirled together)

Nuanced combines a peachy champagne, a gilded peach, a rose gold, and a rosy copper in a pinwheel pattern. When swirled together, they create a light-medium warm muted rosy champagne with a soft shimmer-sheen in a metallic finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a soft, finely-milled texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is darker and more pink than Soft and Gentle, much more pink than Global Glow, and lighter than New Romance Mineralize Blush.

Perfectly Lit

Perfectly Lit (four shades separately, and all four shades swirled together)

Perfectly Lit combines a peachy copper, a copper, a rosy copper, and a brown copper in a pinwheel pattern. When swirled together, they create a medium-dark warm rosy copper with a soft shimmer-sheen in a metallic finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a soft, finely-milled texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is darker and less metallic than Cheeky Bronze, more pink than Sunbasque Powder Blush, and more muted than Peachtwist Powder Blush.

Faintly Fabulous, Sunny Side, Nuanced, and Perfectly Lit

Fans of Mineralize Skinfinish can rejoice, for there are five gorgeous, brand new shades for you to fawn over! MAC currently only has five shades of Mineralize Skinfinish in its permanent line-up, and I find that none of these are similar to the permanent shades, so they are all worth getting in their own way, depending on how you like to use your MSF. Each shade here is velvety soft, very finely-milled, beautifully pigmented, and ultra-smooth; they give full colour pay-off but are incredibly easy to blend out. It is important to note that Faintly Fabulous and Sunny Side are listed as Mineralize Skinfinish Natural, which means they have a more satin finish with a soft sheen rather than a full metallic finish with a very frosted sheen like a typical Mineralize Skinfinish. Mineralize Skinfinishes can be used on the face however you see fit, but I would recommend Faintly Fabulous and Nuanced as highlighters for all complexions (very fair skintones could probably use Nuanced as a soft blush), and Sunny Side and Perfectly Lit as blushes for fair to medium-deep complexions and as highlighters for dark to deep-dark complexions. (Those with very fair or very pink undertones might want to try Sunny Side in person first, as it can come across too yellow and result in a very sallow-looking complexion.) There is definitely something for everyone here, and those who want something different from what's offered in the permanent range, or who just really love their MSFs, or just really love glowy looking skin will definitely want to take a look at these.

    1. Perfectly Lit is beautiful as a highlighter, especially on darker complexions! If you have a light to medium skintone, it'll work better as a blush. :)
