Taking a break from the '90s nostalgia with this song here. If this is the direction that Lorde's sound is going, I cannot wait to hear what her sophomore album will have in store for us.

Yep, second that thought Denise. I love this song, I already love Lorde...bring me MOAR.
ReplyDeleteYASSSSSS. She played a couple of new songs when I went to her concert in September, but I don't know what they're called. Can't wait for a new album, though! Totally overplayed Pure Heroine, lol. She has some new songs for the new Hunger Games soundtrack, too (including this song). :)
DeleteI like this. I like it a lot. Lorde is growing on me. When they first started playing Royals, I was really, really put off, lol, but I like a lot of the other songs on her first album. Plus I like her swagger.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think "Royals" was a good first single, but I enjoy a lot of her other songs more. But "Yellow Flicker Beat" has a much more... bad-ass vibe to it. It's harder, edgier. She wrote this song specifically for the Hunger Games: Mockingjay soundtrack, though, so I'm not sure if this is really the direction she's going in for her own album.
DeleteI also like her swagger, lol. Not afraid to do something weird or different even if she gets backlash for it.
I love Lorde, even "Royals" and all -- and especially her hair. Any time a young woman churns out a sound that isn't a high-pitched nasally whine, I'm happy.
ReplyDeleteHaha, fair enough. High-pitched is bearable to me, but it's the NASALLY that grinds my gears. AHEM, RIHANNA.
