Pick-Ups & Deliveries: November 2014 — Sephora VIB Sale

Wednesday, November 26, 2014
Welp, we knew this was gonna happen. I don't think anyone was under any illusions of how much I could spend. After two online orders and three separate trips to Sephora, here's my total haul from the VIB sale:

NARS Audacious Lipstick in Raquel, Anna, Charlotte, Bette, and Liv

Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil in Syrah, Madeira, Honey Berry, Rhubarb, and Violet

Bite Beauty Matte Crème Lip Crayon in Léché, Amaretto, and Tatin

Okay, firstly, it's clear that my lipstick game is still going strong. My obsession with the NARS Audacious Lipsticks pushed me to get five more shades. I also found a healthy new addiction to Bite Beauty, which prompted the question, "Why haven't I bought any of these before?" I swatched the High Pigment Pencils in store and was immediately smitten, and therefore had to buy five shades (online, of course, since the display I saw in-store was almost completely empty and had not a single shade left that I wanted). I also picked up three shades of the Matte Crème Lip Crayon, 'cause I love mattes, and you know, when in Rome.

Ardency Inn Modster Manuka Honey Enriched Pigments in Sunday, Rose Gold, Copper, Orchid, and Disco

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Skinny Brow Pencil in Soft Brown and Taupe

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Custard and Ginger

I surprisingly wasn't tempted by that many eyeshadows this time around even with all the holiday palettes out, but I was determined to get my hands on the Ardency Inn Manuka Honey Enriched Pigments. It was the shade Royal (a stunning deep vibrant royal purple) that got me really interested in them, and I actually didn't manage to get my hands on it (because it's sold out everywhere), but made up for it by getting five other shades. I also finally gave in and bought two really hyped-up-but-worth-the-hype products: the Anastasia Brow Wiz (in two shades, Taupe and Soft Brown, 'cause I'm really into ombre eyebrows right now), and the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (again in two shades, one for evening out redness and one for brightening under eye).

Bobbi Brown Highlight Powder in Bronze Glow

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone

Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Shimmering Powder in Luminous

And then highlighters. I have way too many highlighters as it is, but it's a sickness, you know? The first one that tempted me was the new Bobbi Brown Highlight Powder in Bronze Glow that's new for this holiday season. This also marks the first Bobbi Brown product I own. I've found it difficult to find a bronzy highlighter that isn't too dark on my skintone, and this one fits the bill perfectly. Plus, it's in gorgeous limited edition packaging, and y'all know I am a sucker for packaging. The second one was the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone. I probably didn't need this one (like, at all, since I have MAC Whisper of Gilt and Too Faced Candlelight Glow, both of which are pretty much exact dupes of this), but I am obsessed with the texture of the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfectors. Plus, I have Opal, Rose Gold, and Gold Champagne, and I had to complete my Becca highlighting collection, you know? Finally, I got the other Urban Decay Naked Illuminated Shimmering Powder (I bought the other shade, Aura, last month) because these highlighters are more sparkly and iridescent than metallic or frosty, and I felt like it was different enough from my other highlighting powders to merit buying.

Clarisonic Mia 2 Winter Hydration Kit: Clarisonic Mia 2 in Sea Breeze, GlamGlow ThirstyMud Hydrating Treatment (15 g), Boscia Purifying Cleansing Gel (150 ml), and First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream (56.7 g)

Boscia Blotting Linens in Clear Complexion and Black Charcoal, Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask, and Philosophy Purity Made Simple Foaming Cleansing Gel

I finally broke down and bought a Clarisonic. Yep, after nearly two years of fighting the hype, I decided to get one. I don't know why I suddenly felt the need to get one after all this time, but getting a discount certainly helped. And also the fact that Sephora was offering it in a gorgeous aquamarine colour (again, I'm a sucker for packaging), and in a really good value set that included a full-size bottle of Boscia's Purifying Gel Cleanser, a full-size tube of First Aid Beauty's Ultra Repair Cream (something I was actually going to buy, anyway, because it's supposed to be fantastic for rashes and eczema-prone skin), and a deluxe sample tube of GlamGlow's ThirstyMud for $5 more than the Mia 2 alone. I also stocked up on my favourite Boscia Blotting Linens, a tube of Philosophy's Purity Made Simple Foaming Cleansing Gel (my holy grail make-up removing cleanser), and a tube of Origins Clear Improvement Mask (which I actually got because I couldn't bring myself to spend $76 on the GlamGlow SuperMud Clearing Treatment, and the guy at Sephora told me this was the closest thing to it for a much more affordable price).

Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish and Prêt-à-Powder

Fresh Sugar Lychee Eau de Parfum

Lastly, I got a new bottle of my favourite Bumble and Bumble Thickening Dryspun Finish, a bottle of Bumble and Bumble Prêt-à-Powder dry shampoo because I'm really into volume right now (my hair is actually really long now, and thusly much heavier, so I like adding more volume to my roots), and, of course, a bottle of my tried-and-true signature fragrance, Fresh Sugar Lychee. And since I spent way too much money at Sephora, I also got a few of the 500-point perks (I loved the Bliss one so much, I decided to get two of them).

Sephora VIB Rouge Birthday Bonus: Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant Mascara, Aqua Eyes Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil in 0L, and Rouge Artist Natural Lipstick in N9

Sephora VIB 500 Point Perk: Urban Decay Urban Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette and 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Zero

Sephora VIB 500 Point Perk (x 2): Bliss Spa Lemon + Sage Body Butter, High Intensity Hand Cream, Fabulous Foaming Face Wash, and That's Incredi-'peel'! Resurfacing Pads

Yes, I am going to chalk this entire haul as birthday presents to myself...

What did you guys get from Sephora's VIB sale?

  1. i was afraid to show my haul but after seeing this one mine seems pretty tame lol. i love that you love lipsticks so much! i would be so swatch happy to be even near your collection.

    1. Lol, yeahhh, I went a bit crazy this year, especially on the lippies. I did not need a single one of them, either, it's terrible. :P Most beauty hauls seem tame to mine, lol!

  2. Is it weird that I think this is not as bad as could have been? lol

I've come around to the NARS Audacious Lipsticks but I just want one shade for now: Fanny. I hope that it's at Murale, which is where I'm headed to tomorrow to redeem the gazillion points that I've been saving up. I know it's definitely at Holts......... today they're having random hourly deals or something. We missed 20% off Deborah Lippmanns until 11am but hopefully there's something else exciting going on when we land there this aft. :D

    1. Lollll, as with all hauls at Sephora, it doesn't seem like a lot, but it sure COSTS a lot. :P But you're right, it could've been FAR more had I not also been planning to get stuff from the Shiseido warehouse sale and IMATS...

      I hope you're gonna do a Murale haul!!! :D

    2. I'm going to do two Mural haul posts! One for online, another for in-store. :D

    3. SO EXCITED for your hauls!!! I haven't been to Murale in so long. Never occurs to me to shop there instead of Sephora these days. Might take a look-see when they have their next online points event...

  3. I have the Origins Charcoal mask and like it a lot - I actually remember to use it about once a week or so, which is miraculous. I am also a fan of the FAB Ultra Repair Cream for rashes, itches, and you know, when you get sick and your nose is just raw? Yep. It stings like the dickens but works wonders for that. I got my MUFE birthday gift this month, too, and the lipstick is so CUTE and the color is way prettier than I expected. Lastly, I was wondering about those UD highlighters because my Laura Mercier one is a bit too frosty for me lately, and whenever I apply MAC Whisper of Gilt to my forehead, the place right between my eyebrows ITCHES. But only there. LOL I don't understand, but I've isolated the problem to that product, SO. MOAR HIGHLIGHTERS. I like a subtler sheen vs. frosty (the Becca ones are too metallic/ frosty for me), but I definitely have to have one every day.

    1. I haven't used the Origins mask yet, but am planning to on my next full day off (when I don't put on a stitch of make-up, lol). Glad to hear you like it, though!!! It's gotten lots of great reviews, so I'm excited to try it out. Also been loving the FAB Ultra Repair Cream. I've been using it on my hands and I find that it calms my hand eczema a great deal. At the very least, it doesn't irritate it, so that's always a plus.

If you want a highlighter with less frost but still has a sheen, try MAC's Lightscapade. If you want even subtler, you can do MAC's new Studio Sculpt Pressed Powder in Light or Light Plus, which provides a natural sheen without resorting to frost/shimmer but provides more sheen than a matte or satin powder. Love using it on ladies who don't wanna emphasize their skin texture.

  4. It's crazy but I agree with Liz that your haul doesn't seem too bad LOL. I mean, you bought a shit ton of lippies, but really - I think you were fairly modest, in your terms ;) Looks like a fabulous haul to me! I'm really keen to hear your thoughts on the Modster pigments - I want Rose Gold but I'm holding off till I get rid of some more 'ho hum' shadows first.

    1. LOL I love that I shop so much that it's gotten to the point where this haul seems tame. :P

I will definitely do a review on the Modster pigments in the next couple weeks!
