Last week, MAC launched a new lip product called Mineralize Glass, "a sophisticated new Lipglass infused with nutrients that envelop lips in luscious colour." It is "enhanced with a 77-Mineral Ferment Complex" which "keeps lips soft and silky, providing a luminous, modern shine." It comes in 12 new and permanent shades "in stylish new packaging [to] keep your pout polished in a pearlescent shade perfect for every mood." (I only picked up seven of the shades, so five of them will not be reviewed here.) These come with a plush sponge applicator "designed to hug every curve of your lips"; it is the same applicator that comes with Pro Longwear Lipglasses. Like all MAC lip products, they are vanilla-scented but taste-free. Like the Mineralize Rich Lipsticks, they are packaged in a clear hourglass-shaped tube. Each Mineralize Glass comes with 6 ml of product, and retails for $26. Due to the higher price point, these are not applicable for the Back to MAC recycling program.

Lovingly Yours, Modest, Be Nice, Cheerful, Modern Romance, Vibrant Vibe, and Tender

Lovingly Yours is a medium warm grapefruit pink with subtle gold micro-shimmer. This is a new and permanent shade. The texture is medium-weight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer to semi-opaque buildable colour pay-off. It is slightly more pink and less shimmery than Dynasty at Dusk Cremesheen Glass, less brown than Deelight Cremesheen Glass, and more peach than Just Superb Cremesheen Glass.
Modest is a light-medium warm peachy beige with subtle gold micro-shimmer. This is a new and permanent shade. The texture is medium-weight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has light-medium pigmentation and sheer to semi-sheer buildable colour pay-off. It is more peach than Boy Bait Cremesheen Glass, less pink than Double Happiness Cremesheen Glass, and lighter and less orange than Rising Sun Cremesheen Glass.
Be Nice is a medium vibrant warm pink-coral with subtle iridescent shimmer. This is a new and permanent shade. The texture is medium-weight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium-high pigmentation and semi-opaque buildable colour pay-off. It is more pink than Richer, Lusher Cremesheen Glass, lighter and more pink than Lychee Luxe Lipglass, and darker and sheerer than Persistent Peach Pro Longwear Lipglass.
Cheerful is a medium-dark vibrant warm orange-coral. This is a new and permanent shade. The texture is medium-weight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer to semi-opaque buildable colour pay-off. It is darker and more orange than Richer, Lusher Cremesheen Glass, less reddened and sheerer than Whoops! Pro Longwear Lipglass, and darker and more orange than Lychee Luxe Lipglass.
Modern Romance is a medium blue-toned rose pink with pink and white micro-shimmer. This is a new and permanent shade. The texture is medium-weight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has light-medium pigmentation and sheer to semi-sheer buildable colour pay-off. It is darker than Right Image Cremesheen Glass, cooler than Floating Lotus Cremesheen Glass, and sheerer and more shimmery than Pink Nouveau Lipglass.
Vibrant Vibe is a medium-dark vibrant blue-toned fuchsia pink with subtle iridescent micro-shimmer. This is a new and permanent shade. The texture is medium-weight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer to semi-opaque buildable colour pay-off. It is similar though slightly cooler than Loud & Lovely Cremesheen Glass, lighter and sheerer than Pink Poodle Lipglass, and lighter and cooler than Girl About Town Lipglass.
Tender is a light cool-toned pastel pink. This is a new and permanent shade. The texture is medium-weight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has light pigmentation and sheer to semi-sheer buildable colour pay-off. It is lighter and sheerer than Snob Lipglass, darker and cooler than Fashon Scoop Cremesheen Glass, and lighter and milkier than Pagoda Cremesheen Glass.

Honestly, it was only a matter of time before MAC released these. It seems like they really want to focus on their Mineralize line (which I consider to be MAC's "luxury" range with more expensive ingredients, fancier packaging, and higher price point), having significantly expanded the collection in just the last year. This past week alone, they've released new lipstick shades, added their new eyeshadow quads (which look a whole lot like the Chanel quads), and now these glosses. If you're a fan of MAC's Cremesheen Glass formula, you may like the new Mineralize Glasses. They have very similar textures — light, smooth, and creamy — though Mineralize Glass is very slightly thicker. In general, I would catagorize the Mineralize Glasses as non-sticky, but they are slightly tackier than Cremesheen Glasses. Cremesheen Glasses feel almost slick and watery when you press your lips together, whereas Mineralize Glasses do feel creamier, almost like Plushglasses but without the tingly, plumping sensation. This results in a slightly longer wear-time for the Mineralize Glass; Cremesheen Glasses usually wear about one to two hours at most on me, but these wear a good two to three.

Comparatively, I find the Mineralize Glasses to be slightly more hydrating than Cremesheen Glasses; my lips stay soft, smooth, and quenched for the entire duration on my lips with lingering hydration even after they've worn off. Keep in mind, however, that these don't have high pigmentation — they give semi-opaque colour pay-off at most. If you're looking for rich, saturated colour, you're better off with the Lipglass or Pro Longwear Lipglass formulas. But if you want glosses that are hydrating and incredibly comfortable to wear, look smooth and even on the lips, and are great for layering on top of lipsticks or lip pencils, the Mineralize Glasses are wonderful new options to look at. And before you cringe at the $26 price tag, each tube contains 6 ml of product, which is more than double the amount in a Cremesheen Glass, and about a quarter more than a regular Lipglass.

  2. These look beautiful! My faves are Cheerfule and Vibrant Vibe. The paler orangey ones are gorgeous, too. I think I'm going to email you soon, lol.

  3. I always love looking at gloss swatches and such, but I don't generally buy - when I wear gloss I always feel like my face looks funny now LOL. I really only like a gloss with an otherwise bare face (maybe a little blush and mascara, but that's it). Sadly, I still have a bunch to use up, but then once I do I wouldn't mind having one of these, they do look nice!

    1. I love using glosses on top of shinier lipsticks but not on top of mattes because it makes them bleed. I don't typically wear gloss alone, though, weirdly enough. I find that I've gotten used to wearing full face make-up so much so that even on my days off or when I'm feeling low-key, I still end up having full face make-up. For me, keeping it low-key means keeping it down to two eyeshadows and a sheerer lipstick, lol!
