Friday Five: Ears

This week's Friday Five:
  1. What is a most pleasant sound to wake up hearing? Rain.

  2. What is a most pleasant sound to fall asleep hearing? Also rain. Preferably a downpour. There is something so soothing to falling asleep to that sound. I also like the sound of an oscillating fan, probably because I'm accustomed to sleeping with one on when it's hot outside so it's rather comforting to me. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind ocean waves. But it's not very plausible given where I live, and also given the fact that I haven't been near an ocean in years.

  3. What's a more annoying sound: car alarms or leaf-blowers? Leaf-blowers. They just grate on my nerves. At least car alarms are constant in their sound, so you get used to it after a while. But leaf-blowers? Oh, god, it's up there with construction drills and crying babies on my list of "most annoying sounds."

  4. What's a sound most people seem to like but you hate? I don't know if most people like this sound, but I pretty much hate all the sounds a motorcycle could make.

  5. What's a sound most people seem to hate but you like? I don't listen to it much anymore, but I used to love, love, love post-hardcore or "emo-core" bands. The kind with heavy guitars and screaming.

  1. I love rain, too, but I much prefer that it's gone by morning - mostly because we need to take the dog out, lol. I hate the sound of metal on metal! Like utensils scraping a pan - or even a ceramic dish. Arggggh.

    1. LOL, fair enough! I don't love being outside when it's raining mostly because it ruins hair and make-up and also because there's earthworms EVERYWHERE... but I do love the sound of it. I especially love thunderstorms. I'm a weirdo like that. :P

  2. OMG you would have gone insane in Manila where my sister lived for a year. Construction non-stop day AND night. I can't stand any noise at night and used to have huge sleeping problems when I was in the bedroom facing the main street rather than the room I'm in now. Rain is about the only thing I can tolerate.

    1. When I first moved to my current house, there was still construction everywhere because it was a newly developed neighbourhood, so they were still drilling and paving and whatnot-ing and I was pretty much pissed off for like, three months straight. LOL.
