Tomorrow, MAC will be launching their first official Spring colour collection called A Fantasy of Flowers (it is currently available online). It is inspired by "a drifting dreamworld, bursting with brilliant blooms of colour... as a magical fantasy emerges glowing with a floral essence." This collection will see the launch of 35 products, 20 of which are new and limited edition, five of which are re-promotes, and ten of which are permanent. A Fantasy of Flowers will see the release of six shades of Cremesheen Glass, of which three are new and limited edition, two are re-promotes, and one is permanent. MAC's Cremesheen Glass is "a lip finish that fuses the creamy, sheen-filled nature of Cremesheen Lipstick with the shine of MAC Lipglass. Soft, comfortable, non-sticky." They are vanilla-scented but taste-free. Each Cremesheen Glass comes in regular clear packaging with a doe-foot applicator, comes with 2.7 grams of product, and retails for $23. These are not applicable for the Back to MAC recycling program.
Galaxy Rose is a medium-dark brightened raspberry pink. It is a re-promoted shade from 2012's Heavenly Creature collection, and is limited edition. The texture is lightweight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium-high pigmentation and semi-opaque colour pay-off. It is darker and more pink than Double Dare, and warmer and redder than Loud & Lovely.
Star Quality is a medium vibrant pinked coral. This is a re-promoted shade from 2012's Reel Sexy collection, and is limited edition. The texture is lightweight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium pigmentation and semi-opaque colour pay-off. It is more coral than Double Dare, and sheerer and more pink than Whoops! Pro Longwear Lipglass.
Flare for Fantasy is a light-medium peachy pink with fine multi-coloured iridescent shimmer. This is a new and limited edition shade. The texture is lightweight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has low-medium pigmentation and semi-sheer colour pay-off. It is more pink than Dynasty at Dusk, and darker and more pink than Love Nectar Lustreglass.
Nectarsweet is a light-medium warm peach with gold and peach shimmer. This is a new and limited edition shade. The texture is lightweight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has low pigmentation and sheer colour pay-off. It is warmer and more peach than Paper Lantern, and similar though less pinked than Double Happiness.
Pagoda is a light-medium cool-toned milky lilac-pink with fine white micro-shimmer. It is a permanent shade. The texture is lightweight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has medium pigmentation and semi-sheer colour pay-off. It is lighter and cooler than Right Image, and darker and more pink than Morning Glory Lustreglass.
Playful Petal is a medium cool-toned magenta pink with fine blue and fuchsia iridescent micro-shimmer. It is a new and limited edition shade. The texture is lightweight and creamy, and it goes on smoothly and evenly. It has low-medium pigmentation and semi-sheer colour pay-off. It is less purple than Funtabulous Dazzleglass, and brighter than Extra Amps Dazzleglass.
Cremesheen Glass is by far my favourite lip gloss formula from MAC for a few reasons — they're non-sticky, ultra-creamy, super-glossy, and are excellent for layering. The major drawback here is the wear-time, which is three hours at most, but that's the only thing that could be improved upon, in my opinion. While they are not touted as moisturizing, I feel that these keep my lips soft and super-hydrated both short-term and long-term — these are by far MAC's most moisturizing lip gloss formula. There is definitely a mix of shades and finishes with this launch, so there's something for everyone, assuming you like MAC's Cremesheen Glasses. Both Galaxy Rose and Star Quality are re-promotes, but if you missed out on them the first time they were released, these are definitely must-haves if you like your glosses on the brighter side. They are some of the more pigmented Cremesheen Glasses that MAC has released and just make lips look flawlessly juicy and plump with saturated colour — so perfect for Spring and Summer.
Flare for Fantasy and Nectarsweet are two of the more dupeable shades here, but if you don't have similar shades in the Cremesheen Glass formula, they are great natural, everyday shades that look especially great on top of neutral or nude lipsticks (Nectarsweet is almost an exact dupe for Double Happiness, which is permanent and is one of my most-used lip glosses of all time — in fact, it is the only one I have ever used up! — because I layer it on top of all my lighter lipsticks). Pagoda is a nice option for those who like their cool-toned milky pinks (and MAC has a fair share of those in their lip gloss range) especially because I find this one doesn't settle into lip lines as some milky shades do, though it is skippable because it is apart of MAC's permanent range and is available all the time. Playful Petal is definitely one of the more unique glosses I've come across, if only for the way the shimmer plays off the light, sparkling fuchsia, blue, and lavender in different angles. The magenta base is on the sheer side, so it's not going to really add much colour on the lips on its own, but looks absolutely stunning on top of a bright lipstick. Most of all, I just love how these shades come together in this collection; I think it reflects the theme and inspiration perfectly, all dewy sparkle and delicate blooms of colour.

ReplyDeleteFair enough! Most of them are quite dupeable in the end -- I just can't resist Cremesheen Glasses! They're honestly my favourite gloss formula of all time, even more than Dior. But thanks!

Plus, they've already released it a couple times as re-promotes. I'm surprised you didn't grab Galaxy Rose the first time it was launched! It's such a pretty shade. And so wearable all year round! :)
DeleteI am always tempted by the Cremesheens, because I like them FAR better than the Lipglasses, but I never pull the trigger because I'm just not a huge gloss person right now. Maybe I'll come back over sometime... ;)
ReplyDeleteFair enough -- I'm also more of a lipstick person than lip gloss. Though when I deign to wear gloss, I always go for the Cremesheens. They're just the most comfortable to wear. And the most moisturizing! :)
