Dior Trianon: Diorblush Trianon Edition Powder Blush in 763 Corail Bagatelle

on
Wednesday, January 29, 2014

This month, Dior released their Spring 2014 collection, Trianon, that was inspired by "Marie-Antoinette and her private domain, the Petit Trianon... Macaron shades and Fontanges bow, the atmosphere of Versailles and its gardens..." Trianon features a total of 30 products, of which 23 are new and limited edition, and seven are permanent. As some products are exclusive to certain retailers, not all products within this collection will be available at all Dior counters or Sephora. Trianon sees the release of two new and limited edition shades of Diorblush Vibrant Colour Powder Blush, of which I only picked up one. Each Trianon Edition blush is "decorated with a Fontanges bow and pearled ribbon," contains a mini flat blush brush, and is packaged in Dior's signature dark blue mirrored compact. It contains 7.5 grams of product, and retails for $44.

Corail Bagatelle

Corail Bagatelle

Corail Bagatelle is a medium vibrant warm pinked coral with a soft satin sheen. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a lightweight, silky, finely-milled texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It less pink than MAC Fleur Power, brighter and more pink than MAC Melba, lighter and more pink than MAC Desert Rose, darker and less shimmery than NARS Orgasm, more pink than NARS Deep Throat, more coral and less shimmery than TheBalm Frat Boy, lighter and more pink than Tarte Charisma, more muted and less reddened than Tarte Frisky, and darker and more coral than Tarte Glisten.

Is this a must-have? Probably not. I mean, there's only so many coral blushes a person can have, you know? If you're like me and are a complete hoarder of blushes (#blushfiend), then you very likely have something similar to this shade at home. But if you're like me and are also a complete sucker for packaging, then you'll be extremely tempted because that girly bow and pearl ribbon design is just too damn cute to resist. Aside from being a gorgeous (if somewhat predictable) shade for Spring that'll work across a myriad of skintones, it also has a silky smooth, finely-milled texture that glides on effortlessly and blends out like a dream. It has excellent pigmentation and colour pay-off, so you can wear it as a brightened coral blush that's more on the matte side or buff it out into a pinky-peach shade with a lovely satin sheen. The more you blend it, the more luminous it becomes, but it never looks shiny or frosty and doesn't emphasize pores or skin texture. It just makes skin look perky and healthy — perfect for faking Springtime freshness in the middle of winter!

  1. This collection has just come out in Australia and I was so tempted to get this, but ended up going for a gloss instead. Am still thinking about it, I don't have too many coral blushes and the bow is just so sweet!

    1. I was sooo tempted to pick up the glosses and was THISCLOSE to buying them, and then at the last minute, I was like, "I don't use glosses enough to justify the price." I'm a lipstick girl through and through, so I went with just the lipsticks instead. But Dior's glosses are seriously gorgeous. Did you end up getting the pink one or the peach one?

If you don't have a lot of corals in your stash, this one is worth looking at, especially if you don't like too much shimmer in your blushes. :)

  2. This shade looks gorgeous and that packaging is so adorable! Argh I'm super tempted, but at $44 it's a lot more than I normally spend on blush.

    1. That's fair. I totally agree that $44 is a lot for a blush. If you don't have anything similar, it might be worth looking at. Swatch it and see if you like it in real life! Funny that I don't think twice about paying this price for Dior, but I had to reaaaallllly contemplate getting the NARS x Pierre Hardy blush, which was around the same price. (I didn't end up getting the NARS one, either, lol.) The packaging, man. I'm telling you. I'm a TOTAL SUCKER.

  3. These don't really catch my eye, for some reason...I think I'm not a true blush fiend, lol!

    1. Lol, I don't know why, but when I saw even the preview of this blush, I was like, GAAAASSSPPPP, I MUSAT HAVE. Like, the colour just reminds me of a ripe pink grapefruit. So happy, so peppy, so fresh. :) I think it was the whole package, though. The Dior compact, the bow and pearl design in the powder... So damn cute. I couldn't resist. :P

  4. I can't deny that this is pretty but there's still something about it that I feel is lacking. Maybe I wanted it to be darker and orangier. I don't know. Mostly I'm distracted by Chanel Chamade Crème Blush. Still a #blushfiend. @____@

    1. Haha, maybe you just couldn't justify the cost given all the other blushes you want? :P

Oh, speaking of orange blushes... MAC's Modern Mandarin may be making a comeback... permanently. ;)

    1. I find that in general, luxury brands in cosmetics aren't really known for "unique" in terms of shades, you know? These types of brands are all about the texture, the packaging, the formulations. They usually stick to shades that sell well and moderately trend-based but nothing too "out there." It's all about how their products make you feel. You go to brands like MAC and Illamasqua for more "ground-breaking" shades. And, really, in such a saturated market, is there really anything that unique anymore?

Lol, I think with brands like Dior, I don't mind picking up a few LE pieces here and there because they're released once a season -- unlike brands like MAC, who release new collections like, twice a month. :P

  6. MODERN MANDARIN is coming back!? WOOOOOOOOOOOO! :) :) :)

...Ok, sorry lol. Anyway, this blush. I'm certain I have something similar so I won't buy it but DAMN if that packaging isn't pretty, you're right Denise! I am a huge sucker for packaging - which actually has been a beneficial realization, because I don't buy anything now that I don't like the packaging on, which saves me from buying ALL THE THINGS. It might mean I miss out on some great stuff, but I'm ok with that - I already have a lot of great stuff as it is! :)

    1. LOL, fair enough! I definitely have shades similar to this one, but I couldn't resist. Goddamn packaging. And I'm a sucker for coral blushes in general. If I ever go through with a blush ban, I would seriously save HUNDREDS of dollars...

  7. I swear I wrote this in a comment, but maybe it was one of those times it didn't post (I often use a feed reader to read my blogs and I can never seem to comment on sites within it!) I would buy this blush for the embossing alone! SO pretty. It really is a gorgeous shade, though.

    1. Are you gonna get it?! I actually love it, though it doesn't seem to be unique enough for many people to splurge on. :P

    2. I DO have a $50 Holts gift card! But then there's Deborah Lippman and Tom Ford polish I'm eyeing... too many options!!

    3. Haha, that's totally fair. Not sure if the Dior blush would be my first choice with all the Spring offerings. I had a $50 gift card for Holts (I bought a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag that was on sale and that weekend, they were doing a promotion that put back 20% of what you spent that day on a gift card for you to spend on your next visit) and ended up spending it on a Tom Ford lipstick because I knew I would never spend that much on a lipstick with my own money. :P

    4. Fellow night owl! That's exactly why I have the $50 gift card too - I bought a Marc by Marc Jacobs bag! Haha! I got the "Hail To The Queen Diana", what did you get?

    5. Ooh, mine was from a couple years ago, so I don't know what the model is called, but I did a "What's in my bag?" post with it here.

Love the bag you got, though! Very structured and classy. :) What colour did you get?

    6. Ohhh I thought you just got your gift card. Clearly, I didn't read properly - and actually, your promotion was better!

I got black, because if I'm spending that much on a bag, I'd better be able to wear it with anything! I really really liked the red and mixed colourways too.

    7. LOL, no worries, I think the way I worded it could've made it seem like it was recent. :P

I feel the same way as you do -- black is always my go-to shade for expensive bags because it's classic and goes with everything. It makes me cringe to spend so much money for something I'll only wear seasonally. I'm eyeing the Rebecca Minkoff MAC Daddy bag right now. :P
