MAC Magnetic Nude: Extra Dimension Eyeshadow in Silver Dawn, Platinum Love, A Natural Flirt, Sweet Heat, and Amorous Alloy

On Thursday, MAC released a new collection in-stores called Magnetic Nude, which was inspired by "your inner magnetism, as glimmering metallics and natural nudes redefine winter opulence." This collection consists of 26 products, of which 16 are new and limited edition, nine are re-promotes, and one is permanent. Magnetic Nude sees the release of five shades of Extra Dimension Eyeshadow, featuring three new and limited edition shades, and two re-promoted shades. All the Extra Dimension products feature a "liquid-powder hybrid formula with prismatic reflections" that create a "luminous, visually arresting, well-defined finish." Each Extra Dimension Eyeshadow features a wave design embossed on the surface with the MAC logo imprinted around it, and comes in regular black packaging, contains 1.3 grams of product, and retails for $22.50.

Clockwise from bottom left: Silver Dawn, Platinum Love, A Natural Flirt, Sweet Heat, and Amorous Alloy

Silver Dawn, Platinum Love, A Natural Flirt, Sweet Heat, and Amorous Alloy

Silver Dawn is a medium-dark neutral taupe-brown with a soft satin sheen in an Extra Dimension finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a lightweight, silky texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is more brown than Satin Taupe, and more grey than Sable.
Platinum Love is a pale silvered white with a metallic sheen in an Extra Dimension finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a lightweight, silky texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is more metallic than Crystal Avalanche, and similar though smoother than Forgery.
A Natural Flirt is a light peachy beige with gold shimmer and a soft satin sheen in an Extra Dimension finish. This is a re-promoted shade from 2012's Glamour Daze collection, and is limited edition. It has a lightweight, silky texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is slightly darker and more shimmery than Orb, and more peach than Dazzlelight.
Sweet Heat is a light-medium bronzed peachy pink with a metallic sheen in an Extra Dimension finish. This is a re-promoted shade from 2012's In Extra Dimension collection, and is limited edition. It has a lightweight, silky texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is more bronze than All That Glitters, and more pink than Honey Lust.
Amorous Alloy is a medium-dark warm terracotta copper with a soft frosted sheen in an Extra Dimension finish. This is a new and limited edition shade. It has a lightweight, silky texture, and goes on smoothly and evenly. It has high pigmentation and opaque colour pay-off. It can be layered and blended out easily. It is more reddened than Antiqued, and darker and more brown than Coppering.

I've always been a fan of the Extra Dimension formula, and I'm so glad MAC decided to release new eyeshadow shades with it. It somehow has that really smooth, ultra-pigmented look of a Veluxe Pearl eyeshadow while being super-lightweight like a Mineralize Eyeshadow. And you can use these both wet and dry, so you can play around with the intensity and colour pay-off. Most of these shades are fairly dupeable within MAC's permanent eyeshadow range, but they are all universally flattering and the Extra Dimension formula is honestly just a dream to work with. My must-haves from this collection are Sweet Heat, which literally looks good on everybody as an all-over shade (fairer skintones can use this as a crease colour, and darker skintones can use this as a highlight, too), and Amorous Alloy, which is the most unique of the five and just has a gorgeous depth to it that translates beautifully on the eye.

  3. Amorous Alloy!! LOVE this. I might be in the mall tomorrow and hopefully there still will be some products left to swatch, I might change my mind on not buying anything LOL. All That Glitters is one of my fave shadows so I suspect Sweet Heat would be right up my alley :)

    1. LOL!!! If you can still get your hands on Amorous Alloy and Sweet Heat, they're totally worth breaking your "no buying" rule. :D
