Hare Polish Nail Lacquer in Golden Years

My obsession with Hare Polish and general love of glitter polish is still going strong. I don't think I've been this consistently impressed with a single brand's polish before. As some of you might have noticed, I go through phases with my nails and after going a little overboard with the glitters over last winter, I ended up getting so sick of them that I wore cream finishes for about six months straight afterwards. Enter Hare Polish, an indie brand that makes some of the most unique glitter polishes I've ever seen. I bought six shades from their Etsy shop (their stock is constantly rotating, so they don't always have the same shades for sale) and each one marries a gorgeous base colour with contrasting but complementary shades of glitter. After gorging on so many glitter polishes, it's likely I'll get sick of them in like, a month... but for now, I'm enjoying my blingy nails.

Golden Years is a navy blue jelly base with large gold square and hexagonal glitter, medium gold and iridescent blue glitter, medium navy blue hexagonal glitter, and small gold glitter. It has a thicker consistency that is common with glitter polishes, but it doesn't hinder the application. It goes on smoothly and evenly, without any pulling, bubbling, or streaking. The glitter goes on evenly dispersed, and I had no problems getting the glitter to stay put, either. It has medium pigmentation, and will reach opacity in three medium coats (I used one coat of Chanel's Blue Satin beforehand to darken the base so the glitter stands out more). I cannot think of any dupes for this. This one is a serious stunner — it looks like an epic celestial explosion. It's like a much more vibrant version of Deborah Lippmann's Across the Universe... an Across the Universe 2.0, if you will. Golden Years is by far my favourite of the Hare Polish shades I picked up and one I can see myself reaching for time after time; a definite must-have.

  1. Lippmann glitters are so basic now. Bless her for bringing the refined chunky glitters to the masses but she has been surpassed! How many of these did you get? What did they charge for shipping?

    1. Totally agreed re: Lippmann. None of her new glitters in the past year have piqued my interest!

I bought a total of six of these. Shipping for any one item outside of the US is $7.49 CAD, and any other item on top of that is $1.60 CAD. So in total, my shipping cost was $15.49 CAD for six polishes, which equates to about $13.28 CAD each. But no tax through Etsy! :)

  2. This is beautiful! It reminds me a bit of a forest with all the greens and blues

    1. It is rather twilight forest-y, isn't it? Weirdly, there's actually no green glitter in it at all -- it's the gold reflecting off the blue that makes it look like iridescent green! :) Love this so much.

  3. I wish I liked these Hare polishes more, but....glitter for the most part is just not my thing... :(

    1. Lol, that's fair, glitter's not for everyone! Hare Polish focuses on glitters, so if glitter's not your thing, you won't really be interested in this brand, lol.
